He joined AFLIFE as an Assistant Investment Analyst in 2014, responsible for macroeconomic analysis investment research, investment appraisals, and client servicing. As part of his brief, he would visit management of listed companies to formulate views and advise the team through various reports. He took up a role in Client Relations to focus on client servicing and ensuring that clients have an excellent experience with AFLIFE. He has been promoted from his role as Head – Client Relationship Management (CRM) to Deputy Chief Executive Officer in January 2020. In addition to his responsibilities in the CRM portfolio, Jonathan had oversight over product development, with particular emphasis on the Private Equity offering, which is a core pillar of our growth. He also oversees the implementation of the firm-wide strategy, in addition to corporate communication and marketing. He equally plays a leading role in new business development engaging both institutional and retail prospective clients. In January 2023, Jonathan was appointed as Chief Executive Officer. He is responsible for driving the firm-wide strategy encompassing investments, operations, business development and stakeholder management.

Mweemba joined the Aflife Team as a Portfolio Manager in October 2017 after more than 7 years in the banking industry in Zambia. She specialized in Corporate Banking while working for Stanbic Bank and thereafter, at First National Bank (FNB). She has experience in Client Relationship Management, Corporate & Investment Banking as well as Global Markets and Foreign Exchange. As a Portfolio Manager, she was responsible for overseeing the investment strategy for the local bond and offshore portfolios encompassing review of investment appraisals, recommendation on pricing and review of the implementation of strategy. She was appointed as Chief Investment Officer in January 2021 with overall responsibility for driving the excellence of Aflife’s investment decision-making and implementation. Further, she leads the front office team in review of the strategic asset allocation and portfolio construction.

He has more than 10 years of professional experience spanning accounting, finance and investment operations. Mumba has combined over 10 years’ experience in the financial industry as a financial advisor at audit firm Grant Thornton, as an investment analyst at Black thread Capital Botswana and Aflife where he is currently a Portfolio Manager. He is responsible for the property portfolio as well as research of local equities, macro-economic analysis and developing long term investment strategy across asset classes. Mumba has developed core skills in financial reporting, business advisory including financial modelling, valuation, report writing and economic research. He has been involved in executing trade instructions and general client portfolio administration, portfolio optimization and monitoring in line with client specific policy mandates and preparing financial accounts and business management reports.

Her current role entails being responsible for the private equity portfolio as well as carrying out investment research, making sound investment analysis, recommendations and decisions across assigned asset classes; fixed income, offshore investments and cash – for the optimum management of the funds under Aflife. She also assists in building and maintaining relationships with existing institutional clients and prospects, through regular interaction and new business efforts via coordination with the client relationship team.

Joined the Aflife team in 2022 and has over 9 years working experience in the financial sector, comprising of 5 years in the banking industry and 4 years as an Investments Analyst. As Client Relations Manager, Matimba is the main contact between the Pension Scheme clients and Aflife. He is responsible for Aflife’s client reporting and ensuring that queries raised are tracked and efficiently resolved, and that there is a smooth relationship between Aflife and the Schemes. He is focused on ensuring an exceptional client experience.

At African Life Financial Services, we carry out various community initiatives to alleviate the suffering of the majority of the Zambian people through donations to institutions of learning and health centers as these truly reflect the African Life human philosophy of enhancing a literate and healthier citizenry.
